About the Organisation
Founded in 1993 by women activists, the Centre for Women’s Development and Research (CWDR) has been a leading advocate for gender equality in Tamil Nadu for over 30 years. We believe that empowering women is key to addressing the challenges they face, and that women-led initiatives drive real change. CWDR focuses on developing leadership skills, advocating for rights, and enabling women and adolescent girls to actively participate in their communities through education, training, and advocacy.

Mission

Our mission is to empower women and adolescent girls by advocating for their fundamental rights, ensuring access to quality education, healthcare, and resources, and creating opportunities for personal and professional development. We are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive community that promotes gender equality, challenges harmful social norms, and amplifies the voices of women and girls. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, we aim to build a society where every woman and girl can live with dignity, make informed decisions about their lives, and participate fully and equally in all aspects of life.
